At JC Independent Wills & Probate Ltd I run a tight ship, and if you make a commitment to put thought into your Will, I make a personal commitment to produce it in a timely fashion.

The process is a two meeting system. Our first meeting takes about an hour to an hour and a half. We discuss who’s in your family (you don’t have to give to everyone you tell me about!), what you’ve got financially, and where you want those assets to pass when you die.

I often have a fairly in depth chat on the phone before clients book their appointment, and this means that it’s normally the case that all the key decisions can be made in that first meeting.

On the basis that you bring along all relevant names and addresses, of the various people to be included in your Will, I make sure your Will is ready for you to sign, two to three weeks later.

The signing meeting (people tend to come along to my office, so that I and one of my colleagues can act as your independent witnesses) can be as quick as fifteen to twenty minutes, but I confess that some clients are so fascinating and free with their time, that we’ve happily chatted for two hours!

That’s unusual though, so you can plan for a first meeting of about an hour, and a second meeting of about twenty minutes. It’s going to involve a bit more mental energy than your weekly shop, and it may even cost a bit more than your weekly shop, depending how extravagant you are and where you shop, but the time investment is well worth it.

If you’d like to chat through ideas in advance of booking a meeting, please give Jane a call on 01727 840 240. If our initial chat helps you move forward with your Will, I’ll be delighted. What you probably realise by now, from my various articles, is that I don’t work too hard. I don’t need to secure every bit of business which I have nudged into action. What I have a visceral need for though, is to know you took action. That gives me real joy, regardless of whether it’s with JC Independent or your local specialist lawyer.
