I don’t know if you’re like me, and been eagerly awaiting Timothy Ferriss’ new book “Tribe of Mentors – Short Life Advice from the best in the world” which is out this week.

At the start of this year, I devoured “Tools of Titans” and I simply can’t contain my excitement about the next tome. Like many of Tim’s fans, I have read the sample, which is available online, and the book is made up of an intriguing eleven questions.

The people Tim sent these questions to, are wildly successful, and were invited to “Answer your favourite 3 to 5 questions… or more, if the spirit moves you.”

Well, as I’m waiting for my copy of this book to arrive, I thought I’d pick out some questions to answer, and if anyone feels they’d like to, I invite you to answer some that I’ve answered, or pick out some of the other questions Tim poses.

What is the book (or books) you’ve given most as a gift, and why? Or what are one to three books that have greatly influenced your life?

“Who will cry when you die?” by Robin Sharma, “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield and “Notes from a Friend” by Anthony Robbins. These books provide perspective and inspire me to be my best self. If I know that someone else needs that inspiration, I happily gift.

In the last five years, what new belief, behaviour, or habit has most improved your life?

I have always found it annoying if someone, whether family, client or man in the street, sneezes on me, or shakes my hand, or kisses my cheek, only to tell me how ill they have been, and that they’re not quite over it yet. However, my little sister suggested that I transform my belief to be that the more germs I am exposed to, the stronger my immune system is, and the less likely I am to become poorly. Touch wood, this has worked incredibly well, and I have not been knocked out with a bad cold or flu for at least 5 years.

What are bad recommendations you hear in your profession or area of expertise?

I’m still pondering which one to pick!

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do? (If helpful: What questions do you ask yourself?)

When I feel overwhelmed or unfocused, I write a huge list, in various categories which make sense to me, then I literally go to sleep. If I feel seriously overwhelmed, I can sleep for fourteen hours. It doesn’t happen very often, but I believe it’s the very best medicine.

I do hope some of you feel inclined to respond with at least an answer or two. One of the questions I have not answered, but I love reading answers to, is what purchase of £100 or less has most impacted your life in the last six months or in recent memory? Another question you may prefer to answer is whether you have a favourite failure?

I will get my hands on my copy of Tim’s book on Monday, and I can’t wait to get reading.
