Who cares?

was recently asked to suggest some ways for a Probate company to improve their service.

And one of the questions I was asked, was whether a technological tool could be created to assist with the Probate process.

The truth is, and I delivered this as diplomatically as I felt able, the most significant aspect of the Probate process when we’re supporting a family, is to care.

Really care.

I’ve dealt with companies over the years, who have moved me, with their attention to detail, how they have supported a family in unique and thoughtful ways.

And sadly, I’ve had contact with companies who appear to not care.

So when a company asks what they can do and how they can improve their service, the real answer, however you dress it up, is to genuinely care.

If you care, you may enquire how the funeral went on Wednesday. You might understand that the pride of joy garden is a serious priority. You could make calls to see how the dog is settling down in their new home. Or you may simply crack on with those blessed forms that need to be submitted as quickly as possible, to avoid interest being added to the Inheritance Tax that’s due next month.

Caring, means that all the details are part of what you’re doing, because you care. Not because you have the best technology, but because part of caring, is ensuring the relevant details (which can be different for each grieving family) are handled. And handled well.
